Legis. Judi Bosworth, other honor not-for-profit organization at Roslyn ceremony.

Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth, D-Great Neck, recently joined the Foundation of Community Unified Services, Inc. in honoring ACLD House at the Jolly Fisherman in Roslyn.

Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities is a leading not-for-profit agency that serves the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The ACLD mission is to provide the opportunity for children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities to increase their independence and improve the quality of their lives.

Sheila Penn (shown seated in photo) was a founding member and president of FOCUS, Inc., which was started in Great Neck in 1988 by a group of parents of developmentally disabled children. The residence was eventually turned over to ACLD, where it continues to help those in need.
