Huntington
A Huntington man who manages a youth baseball team was arrested Friday on charges of harassing another coach he'd gotten into a dispute with. Suffolk County police said Robert Sanfilippo, 45, of 20 Timber Ridge Dr., stalked a rival coach’s family and sent threatening text messages to the competing coach. Sanfilippo is charged with 20 counts of aggravated harassment and one count of stalking.
Deer Park
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. announced the indictment of suspected mobster Joseph Giordano of Deer Park on charges of grand larceny. Giordano is accused of beating his victim, a construction company official, in order to extort $50,000. According to documents filed in court and statements made on the record in court, from on or about March 2009 through June 2009, Giordano, 63, threatened, punched, kicked and slapped his victim in order to extort the money. Vance said in a press release that Giordano committed the crime by using his status as a captain in the Gambino crime family, which is one of the five Mafia families operating in the New York area.
Mineola
Nassau County Police have released a surveillance photograph of a suspect wanted for robbing the Mineola Bank of America at 199 Jericho Turnpike on Sept. 14. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’ 6” to 5’ 8” in height, 140 lbs, thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, white sneakers, a tan baseball cap with black bill and a Pittsburgh Penguin logo on the front. Three men and two juveniles were arrested on the morning of September 19 by Nassau County Police in Herricks for grand larceny and conspiracy involving the breaking into numerous parked vehicles in Herricks.
Bellmore
A 63-year-old Bellmore man was arrested and charged with possession of child porn after federal agents raided his house last week. Alfonso Marino, a former New York City substitute teacher, was arrested by agents of the Department of Homeland Security.
West Babylon
Three women from Flushing, Queens have been arrested by the Suffolk County Police Department for conducting illegal activities at a West Babylon massage parlor this afternoon. Xiu-Fang Ye, 40, Liying Han, 24, and Lina Yang, 31, all from Flushing, were arrested by Suffolk County Police at 2:35 p.m at Green Health Spa at 140 Route 109 in West Babylon. The arrests came following an undercover investigation at the spa by the First Precinct's Crime Section.
Baiting Hollow
Baiting Hollow artist Max Moran has good news to report in his odyssey to recover hundreds of works stolen from his Mattituck studio years ago -- 10 more works of art have been found. Moran reports that on September 10, ten works were recovered by law enforcement in Ohio. Two of the paintings found were those listed Southold Police Department and FBI reports. The paintings, Moran said, were turned over to his attorney in Columbus by law enforcement. "The FBI emailed their congratulations," Moran said.
