Great Neck Plaza Fire Damages Four Apartments Saturday

Weekend blaze above vacant store forces several families from homes.

A fire above a vacant store in Great Neck Plaza damaged several apartments Saturday. 

After being alerted to the fire at about 12:15 p.m., Vigilant Fire Company crews discovered the blaze in the rear of a second floor apartment at 36 Middle Neck Rd.

The blaze was brought under control in less than an hour, but not before damaging four apartments in the building, according to firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported. 

Also responding to the scene was crews from the Alert Fire Company, Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department and East Williston Fire Department.

Displaced families living in the damaged building will work with building management to find temporary housing while the building is repaired, according to firefighters.
