Large Fire Engulfs Saddle Rock Home

Multiple units from Great Neck area respond to wind-fueled blaze on Bayport Lane Tuesday.

A large house fire broke out Tuesday at a home in the Village of Saddle Rock.

Great Neck Alert Fire Company, Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department and Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company crews responded to scene of the blaze at 40 Bayport Lane at just after 10 p.m.

Fed by wind gusts coming off Little Neck Bay, the fire spread quickly throughout the large house which was under construction.

"After thirty minutes of battling the wind-driven fire, interior firefighting operations were halted and an exterior operation commenced," said former Manhasset-Lakeville Captain Kirk Canden in a statement. "Several hose lines, a deck gun, and ladder pipe were used to extinguish the stubborn fire."

Nassau County Fire Marshal’s are investigating the blaze. No injuries were reported.

In September, fire swept though a Saddle Rock residence at 9 Brookbridge Rd. as a severe thunderstorm was moving through Great Neck.
