Saturday: Prescription Drug Take-back

Dispose of unwanted medication safely.

This Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., residents can dispose of unwanted medication safely. Residents can bring unwanted medication to one of at least two locations in the area:

  • Nassau County Police (former 6th Precinct), 100 Community Dr., Manhasset.
  • Great Neck Estates Police Headquarters, 1 Cedar Dr., Great Neck Estates.

The effort is part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, in coordination with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Police say there will be no questions asked, and participants will remain anonymous.

This initiative is vital to public safety and public health, and provides a secure option to those who want to dispose of unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs, police say.

According to police, each day 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time. The majority of these drugs, police say, are obtained from family and frirends and the home medicine cabinet.
