Last Chance: FEMA Aid Deadline Extended For Those Affected by Sandy

Residents have until March 29 to file claims.

We've seen hundreds of events come and go in the community, but how often does one pass you by that you wish you hadn't missed out on? That's where we come in.

Each week Great Neck Patch will post a quick reminder about the events, activities or important tasks whose deadlines have come.

Just announced: The deadline to register for FEMA assistance has been extended to March 29 from the previous deadline of Feb. 27 for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Federal disaster assistance for individuals and families can include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property losses and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.

Additionally, a 30-day extension for individuals and businesses applying to the Small Business Administration for lowered-interest loans has been granted. SBA applications are available online by clicking here.

Individuals may register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or via smartphone or tablet at fema.gov

Call 800-621-3362 or (TTY) 800-462-7585 for more assistance.
