Library Election Results Announced

Two new library nominating committee members elected; two incumbent trustees reelected in unopposed Great Neck Library races Monday.

Two Great Neck Library Board of Trustees incumbents and two nominating committee newcomers were elected in an unopposed library election Monday.

Receiving 145 votes, Josie Pizer bested write-in candidates Norma Rutta, Margery Binder and Muriel Weinstein, each with one vote.

Pizer, a 57-year resident of Great Neck, is an education consultant. 

With 150 votes, Varda Solomon also beat out Rutta, Binder and Weinsten, who each received one write-in vote. 

Solomon is a data analyst with Nassau BOCES Department of Computer and Information Technology. She is a 41-year resident of Great Neck.

The newly-elected Board of Trustees members will serve year terms ending January 2017.

Stacee Bernstein and Andrew Dorf were elected to the library's nominating committee for three-year terms ending January 2016. 

With 158 votes, Bernstein, a retired CPA, ran unopposed to fill the seat currently held by Naomi Feldheim.

Receiving 148 votes, Dorf, who runs an eponymous Manhattan law firm, will fill the seat currently held by Michael Fuller.

Write-in candidate Norman Rutta garnered one vote in the nominating committee election against Bernstein.

The election was delayed due to superstorm Sandy.
