LIRR: Modified Schedule for Mets Home Games

Great Neck just 17 traffic-free minutes from Citi Field by train.

The Long Island Rail Road has announced a modified schedule for Mets home games.

The ballpark is just 17 minutes from Great Neck and 27 minutes from Port Washington on the Port Washington Branch.

Regularly scheduled Port Washington Branch trains will stop at the Mets-Willets Point Station throughout the regular season for all weeknight and weekday afternoon games, and on weekends, the LIRR is adding the extra game day service, according to the LIRR website.

And on weekends, the LIRR is adding 12-13 extra trains on game days to ensure service every 30 minutes before, during and after the game in each direction.

“Our goal is to make you comfortable and put you in a relaxed state of mind before and after the game,” said LIRR President Helena E. Williams. “If you’re stressed out by traffic tie-ups and parking fees before the game, or you’re thinking about leaving early to ‘beat the rush,’ then you’re not necessarily having a great game-day experience. The LIRR can help take all of those worries away.”
