LIRR: Hourly Service Restored in GN

Rail road officials urging customers to stagger departure times.

Hourly service on the Long Island Rail Road between Penn and Port Washington is up and running again.

Eastbound trains on the Port Washington Line depart Penn every 14 minutes past the hour, westbound trains depart Port Washington every 35 minutes past the hour. 

The Mass Transit Authority is urging customers to stagger departure times to ease crowding.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has directed the MTA to suspend fare collection on all subways, buses, LIRR and Metro North trains through Friday.

LIRR customers should hold onto their October monthly tickets and current weekly tickets; they will remain valid for travel through Vov. 5, according to the MTA.
