Martins Hosts Roundtable Discussion on Libraries

Library directors from Mineola, Shelter Rock, Roslyn and Port Washington attend meeting

Recently, state Sen. Jack Martins, R-Mineola, hosted a roundtable discussion on issues important to libraries and the challenges they face at the Port Washington Library.

Martins, a former library trustee, held the roundtable discussion as a way to raise awareness of the issues facing libraries and the importance of the services they provide for both adults and children.

“I think our libraries provide communities with valuable services. I have fought to restore aid to libraries and will continue to be an advocate for them,” Sen. Martins said in a statement, adding that libraries are facing challenging times in trying to provide public services with limited funding and in this digital age, libraries have become resources for job searches as well as in-depth research projects.
