Plaza: Affordable Housing Units Available

Applications being accepted for limited number of one and two-bedroom affordable housing units available.

Great Neck Plaza officials are currently acccepting the second round of applications for the remaining "affordable (workforce) housing" units located at in a luxury development at 255 Great Neck Rd.

Two-year leases are available on a small number of units to single persons or families that meet eligibility guidelines, according to the village.

Originally, nine one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom affordable housing units were available. Some of the original 19 apartments are in the process of being leased and are not available.

Application packets may be picked up in person at Village Hall or may be downloaded from the VGNP website. The deadline for submission of applications is Feb. 28, 2013.

A nonrefundable application fee of $125 is required at the time of submission for background and credit searches.

Rent for affordable units will be established at 30 percent of the combined annual gross income of all persons in the household.

Applications for a rent regulated spot in the building, called the "Maestro," were first handed out July 30.

Patch previously reported that Village employees themselves are one class of workers that will be given priority within eligibility rankings.
