LI Residents Encouraged to Participate in Water Security Talks

County legislators to hear residents' concerns regarding water supply issues.

A bi-county hearing in Cold Spring Harbor later this week will afford residents the opportunity to discuss issues confronting Long Island’s aquifers and water resources.

Nassau County Legis. Judi Bosworth, D-Great Neck, and Suffolk County lawmaker William Spencer, D-Huntington, the sponsors of the Dec. 5 event, are encouraging residents to attend the public hearing which begins at 6 p.m. at the Cold Spring Harbor Library, 95 Harbor Rd.

"This hearing will focus on identifying solutions to the issues facing our water supply," said Bosworth in a press release last week.

This week's meeting, part three in an ongoing series of hearings regarding local and regional groundwater conditions and concerns, will focus on water security.

Potential threats such pollution, overuse and saltwater contamination were discussed at the meeting in Hauppauge in September.
