A group of New York State Assembly and congressional candidates will face questions at a debate at the The Amsterdam in Port Washington.
The debate will focus on a range of topics emphasizing issues that matter most to local seniors, according to event organizers.
Present will be state Sen. Jack Martins, R-Mineola, and his Democratic opponent Daniel Ross of Manhasset; Republican congressional candidate Stephen Labate from Deer Park; and state Assembly candidate Richard Steik, a Port Washington Republican.
Absent from the forum will be Rep. Steve Israel, D-Huntington, and state Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, D-Great Neck, according to event organizers.
Elizabeth Cole, a legslative analyst, will read a prepared statement on behalf of Schimel.
Nassau County Legis. Wayne Wink, D-Rosyln, will represent Israel, according to event organizers.
Tell us: Is it an advantage or a disadvantage for candidates to miss debates and leave the questioning to those in attendance?
