Report: Less State Aid For Great Neck Schools

Preliminary school district aid report estimates nearly one percent decrease in funding from last year for school district.

Great Neck schools could see a decrease in state aid funding in 2013-14, according to a preliminary district aid estimate report issued this week by the New York Department of Education.

In 2013, Great Neck schools are projected receive a .98 percent decrease in state aid from last year by $68,665, according to the state report.

For the 2012-13 year the district received $6,938,969. For the 2013-14 academic year, it is estimated to receive $7,037,504.

Initial state aid projections may be boosted once state lawmakers approve the state budget in April.

Reaction to the news is anticipated at a school board meeting set for Monday in the North High School Lecture Room. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.
