Harlem Shake Hits Great Neck

Great Neck North class gets into latest Internet craze.

Great Neck North high schoolers got into the latest Internet craze this month with their rendition of the Harlem Shake.

The Harlem Shake Internet meme first went viral after being posted by a YouTuber named Filthy Frank on Jan. 30.

As of Feb. 11, nearly 12,000 Harlem Shake videos had been posted from celebrities and other individuals, according to YouTube-trends.com. The videos have been watched more than 44 million times.

An Internet meme is a form of video that spreads from person to person, usually of a fad or trend. 

The Gangnam Style Interet meme popularaized worldwide by Psy made it's way to Great Neck last year by way of the Mercant Marine Academy.
