Port Washington Defeats Great Neck South Saturday

Rebels fall 55-28 at Schreiber Saturday.

Port Washington defeated Great Neck South 55-28 in front of a large homecoming crowd at Schreiber on Saturday.

Led by Mike Gennusa, who ran for ran 153 yards and scored a touchdown, the Vikings (3-0) remained perfect for the season. 

Port Washington got off to a quick start building a 34-0 halftime lead against the Rebels (0-3). 

Head Coach Jamel Ramsey said he was pleased with the fan turnout on Pride in Port Day and with the overall performance and his team.

"It was not just an individual effort it was a team effort," said Ramsey, who rested many starters during the second half.

Port quarterback James Burns was pleased with the victory and the "great" start to the 2013 season.

"But now we have to finish it," said Burns, who passed for two touchdowns Saturday.

Coach Ramsey said the team has to put the win behind and get ready for the next week when the Vikings play at Great Neck North (2-1).
