Great Neck Boy Scout Engineers Successful School Supply Drive

Toby Costello of Troop 10 completes a successful drive for Adventures in Learning program.

Toby Costello of Great Neck’s Boy Scout Troop 10 recently completed a highly successful school supplies and materials drive for Adventures in Learning.

The after-school program offers individual instruction and homework assistance to Great Neck and Manhasset students at the EOC Building on Community Drive in Spinney Hill. The supplies drive was one of Toby Costello’s Life Scout’s community projects.

Costello developed the project after speaking with Adventures in Learning Executive Director, Diana Holden, who indicated that the organization’s budget was running low on school supplies and other materials. So Costello got to work, organizing Troop 10’s scouts who reached out to their families, as well as friends and neighbors, all of whom gave generously and enthusiastically.

Holden noted, “Adventures in Learning was absolutely thrilled by the donations.  Toby’s efforts really demonstrate a terrific community spirit. Frankly, his achievement symbolizes what scouting truly is. We thank Toby Costello and all of the Boy Scouts of Troop 10 ever so much. And please know that we have put all of the supplies and materials to good use.”

Scoutmaster Dr. Dwight Rosenstein remarked that “with this project, Toby and his fellow troop members have exemplified the Scouting tradition of service to the community.”
