La Baraka

The Humanist Jewish Congregation of Queens &amp; Long Island is happy to announce that after a four year hiatus, our Cultural Seder will be held on April 29 at&nbsp;La Baraka in Little Neck.
Join us for a Seder experience like no other, with an original Haggadah featuring contemporary and traditional songs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish, poetry, prose and rituals old and new. 
Paid reservations are a must! All inclusive: $60 per adult, $45 per child 12 and under, includes a gourmet Passover meal with unlimited wine (vegetarian option available). Space is limited, and no reservations will be accepted after April 22, so don't hesitate!
Cultural, or Humanistic, Judaism is a stream of Judaism that encourages individual thought and understanding in Judaism. Its relation to Judaism is through the history, culture, civilization, ethical values and shared experiences of the Jewish people.
We celebrate human knowledge, power and responsibility. We read, say and sing what we truly believe - in both Hebrew and Yiddish texts and English translations.
We view the Torah and other founding Jewish narratives as powerful myths which are important for Jewish cultural literacy, but not as history or divine revelation.

The Manhasset/Great Neck EOC will be holding its Annual Gala Fundraiser on Thursday, May 2nd at Leonard's Palazzo in Great Neck. Festivities will start with an Open Bar from 6-7PM, followed by dinner at 7PM.
Gala activities will include a Silent Auction and Raffles. Tickets are $125/person.
This year, the EOC is very proud to honor the following supporters:

Tickets are $125/person.
With your help, the EOC will be able to offer a six-week, full day (8am-6pm) Summer Program for children ages 5 to 13 who would otherwise be home alone and unsupervised while their parents are at work. The program offers breakfast, lunch and a snack daily and a variety of educational, recreational, cultural, performing arts and enrichment activities as well as twice weekly trips. The counselors and group leaders for the program are high school and college students who live in Manhasset and Great Neck. 
Incorporated in 1966, the Manhasset/Great Neck EOC's mission is to provide services that promote self-sufficiency, self-development and self-esteem through educational, recreational, cultural enrichment, and support programs for both children and adults in the Hagedorn Community Center.
The Manhasset/Great Neck EOC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Landmark on Main in Port Washington, New York presents Long Island Filmmaker&nbsp;Stewart Schulman’s Left Alone Rhapsody – The Musical memoir of Pianist John Bayless on May 19th at 7PM in its Long Island premiere.&nbsp; At 25, Leonard Bernstein protégé John Bayless made his Carnegie Hall debut performing Rhapsody in Blue. His jaw-dropping technical prowess initiated a 30-year concert and recording career. At 54, a left-brain stroke immobilized his entire right side. The music stopped. John’s magical “first act” disappeared. 
The award-winning documentary Left Alone Rhapsody chronicles John’s rise from four-year-old Texas prodigy to international stardom; his post-stroke struggle to transcend paralysis; and the indomitable spirit driving him to reinvent himself as a one-handed musician and storyteller. John Bayless’s concert, One Hand, One Heart, was performed at Landmark in 2019, and some of the footage from that concert appears in the film.
